"Blossoms in the Rain"

6 x 6 oil on board

please email sadiedavis7@comcast.net for purchase information

now this is interesting...this is the first branch we broke off yesterday on our walk - i'm not sure which kind of tree it is - we have these all over the place - not very fragrant but very pretty - by the time i finished in the studio it was pouring...well not pouring but a good rain - and i took it outside as i always do to snap the picture and it has all sorts of raindrops on it. those aren't painted - those are raindrops!!...i hope they dry....actually they're already starting to dry - i almost like the look of the painting with the raindrops on it better than without....isn't this fun?? lyb

"Stolen Blossoms..Backlit"

6 x 6 oil on board

please contact sadiedavis7@comcast.net for purchase information

so here's the scoop....we were walking nellie this morning...and spring in indiana is gorgeous! - so many trees in bloom - we're not sure what's what out there - pear? apple? probably not magnolia but i swear these almost look like magnolias...as we were smelling them, all of a sudden i just had an impulse to break off a tiny bit...just a tiny bit -such good painting fodder, after all... so we did that on one tree - i'll probably paint those tomorrow....then i spotted these - so spectacular! - and it looked like the house was deserted - so i helped myself and as we were passing the house the garage door opened - boy did i scurry! - i'm pretty sure we didn't get busted -(Whew!!) later today i have to put a bunch of my delta zeta prints from IU in tubes for a fundraiser they're having this weekend - so much to do and it's almost golf season...that will be the real test...this is my 42nd daily painting...april beckons....

"Just a Few"

6 x 6 oil on board
please email sadiedavis7@comcast.net for purchase information

i'm excited - two of my grands are arriving in a little while for a sleepover! - at 10 this morning their mom jen called me to say oliver, who's 3, announced loudly: "i'm tired of waiting! - i'm going to ganny's all by myself!!"...needless to say - we are writing all the stuff down that these kids say - my mom did that with my kids ( i was too busy) - and i'm so glad she did - i'm doing it for my kids' kids!..as for the radishes - i pulled a couple out of the bunch and had a bit more time - i like the color better - more radish-y. i showed it to my hubby and he said..."is there anything you can do with radishes besides cutting them up and eating them?" - has anyone ever heard of cooked radishes? i may paint them a couple more times...this is my 40th daily painting...

please email sadiedavis7@comcast.net for purchase information

can you say fast and loose?? - i was gone all day - tennis match in indy and then met up with my youngest and her son joe - what fun! - i stopped in at the indy downtown marsh looking for chard (not to paint, to cook!) and found no chard but did find this gorgeous bunch of radishes - when i arrived back in columbus i discovered my hubby had also bought a gorgeous bunch of radishes - (that happens to us a lot )- and i tore up to the studio. i may do a bit more work on it tomorrow but when i got downstairs my hubby said:" you showered and painted?" "already?"....so maybe i didn't do it justice but there's always tomorrow -

"Taters"

6 x 6 oil on board
please email sadiedavis7@comcast.net for purchase information

i had a very busy day today - went back to tennis practice - couple very inportant appointments - and didn't have a lot of time to paint - so i thought i would do something fairly simple - thus the fingerling potatoes. (if you've never had fingerlings, they're delightful!) ...turns out they weren't as simple as i thought - but fun to paint in the long run.

i needed to paint something simple today - and so the painting of a great big lemon! - the plumber finally came to hook up my kitchen sink and do a few other things - i had to stop what i was doing to put a coat of paint on one wall in the bathroom because the new potty was smaller than the old one. this place is a total disaster but i promise, slowly but surely....

"Pitcherful of Daffodils"

6 x 6 oil on board
please email sadiedavis7@comcast.net for purchase information

i spent most of the morning working in the kitchen and taking care of some computer glitches (i am getting so geeky!) - i had to take a break and head to the studio - this is the bouquet of daffodils i've been saving - the pitcher was my mother-in-law's - she really loved elephants of every kind! - i placed the "thank you" worry (or happy) stone in there because i'm feeling very thankful today - for my countertops, for old friends and for SPRING arriving!!!....and now - back to work! lyb

it's done!!!

.... and so finally i have my christmas present!!!! my new granite countertops and they're absolutely gorgeous!! - i was worried i wouldn't like the color but it is perfect with all the oak and brick in the kitchen! - the only bad part is it's already past 5 and i haven't done my daily painting - it may not happen but i'll get back at it tomorrow! life is good!!!

corner piece

here's the corner - and i absolutely LOVE the granite we choose!!

progress report

ok - here's the scoop - the guys just tried to install that corner piece and, after much grunting and swearing, (kidding about the swearing..but i was afraid to look!)..they had to gently pull it back out and are at the moment out in back trimming a quarter inch off. something about the unevenness of the brick... all righty then - they have just successfully gotten that first corner piece in!!more to follow

"Before pix"

here are a few "before" pix - a bit blurry, as it turns out....i've cleaned out all the lower cabinets and removed all the drawers - all set for the new tops - i'm nervous...did we pick the right granite?...i am very excited!
big day today!!! - i'm planning to document the countertop installation with before, during and after pictures! - hoping to get time to paint today but we'll see - stay tuned.....

the guardian angels i did a few days ago have gone to a good home - we had a visiter who's been relying on her guardian angels a lot lately so i thought she would enjoy adding these to her posse...

this ancient mortar and pestle was either my father's or we bought it early on after my husband graduated from med school. either way, this is a loose representation - i may try again later. meanwhile i'm frantically getting ready for them to install my granite countertops on friday - this will be a good test to see if i can accomplish a daily painting with all the other stuff going on. i have high hopes....
