this is a small one..either 7x5 or 8x6..i've painted this before..much larger.. since this is one of my very favorite photos..Tillie was a toddler and loved to roam around in the garden in the back yard..heading to the show in Seymour...
a daily musing about my family, my life, but mostly about art - how i will try to paint every day - even while my house is falling down around my ears and my five grandchildren are clamoring to paint with me. thank god my husband likes to cook and that he and nellie and ruby, our golden retrievers, have infinite patience. we'll see.....

on my easel
this is another of todd hoover's photographs...I used only burnt sienna and ultramarine blue and white for the greater part of it..as I was nearing the finish I added another blue..seeing this..as usual I see things I need to change..nothing beats taking a picture or holding something up in a mirror...if I want to go strictly by the photo...hmmmmm......

happy "umbrella" day!!!
10x8 oil on canvas panel
I heard this morning that it was "National Umbrella Day"...whatever that is....but i had this image in my studio that I've been wanting to paint for a long time...and what better time than NOW!!...I think i'm going to call it "Chinatown in the rain"...not sure why...this will most likely be it for a while..we're taking a little jaunt south to spend time with our friends the Hiltons...a little golf..and I really need to refocus and get my priorities straight...painting is going on the back burner...for now...

"Is it My Turn?
11x14 oil on canvas panel
so here's this little ditty a bit more..not sure i'm quite finished with it..it's at that stage where i have to stew a bit and see if i'm satisfied with the design..it's done in a limited palette so it should have pretty good color harmony but design is so important..i already see a few things I plan to fix...but tomorrow...i'm heading to the couch!

on my easel...a new beginning...
so this is what i'm working on..my good friend Katie has a bunch of grands..I think this may be her oldest when she was a little girl..i'm honing in on it..I've had this black and white photo..taken by timmy, her hubby and my oldest living friend...I have done so much painting lately..i almost said...not today!..but then I heard the siren's call...
"Storm"...SOLD
this painting sold at the venue opening last night...I've been searching my files to see the exact size and I can't seem to find it..i'm thinking it's 9x12 and I know it was painted in Georgia...maybe I never did get to post it..anyway..a fellow i'd met at the venue a couple months ago came to the opening..he's an amazing artist his own self..paints beautiful sets and lots of sports stuff..and thank you to him. we had a good time..even though the weather was frightfully cold! the show stays up til the 20th but unfortunately I won't be here for the reception next Friday..we'll be in florida with the Hiltons!!

green crocks
8x10 oil on panel
so here's a little ditty I did today...still looking toward my openings in the next few weeks...I delivered a bunch of stuff to the venue yesterday...getting excited...
36x36 oil on gallery wrap canvas
this is the first large horse painting I did...it's been drying and I spent last night varnishing all the things I could...I have to wait til they're dry to the touch before I can coat them..sometimes I spray retouch varnish but it's been too cold for that..so I coated them with liquin..something I learned from c.w. mundy...
